First of all, we need to understand how the corrosion and wear of mine wire rope are produced?
The use of wire rope environment is extremely harsh, often with "wind and rain as a companion". When the wire rope is in the open air or underground, the sun, water and air will have a very bad influence on the wire rope. After service, with the extension of the service time, fretting wear will occur first, which is shown as the diameter of the wire rope gradually decreases, and the wear will produce wear debris. After the wear debris falls off, it will quickly oxidize and rust, generating brownish red iron rust, I .e. iron oxide, micro cracks, micro cracks on the surface of steel wire surface wear, and micro cracks slowly expand under complete stress, until the wire breaks. Wear, broken wire and corrosion are the main basis for determining whether the wire rope is scrapped.

Corrosion damage does not exist alone. It is often different from the equipment conditions, natural environment, maintenance and management of the user department. It is generally produced at the same time as fatigue and wear. This is commonly referred to as corrosion fatigue and corrosion wear.

Why is it necessary to conduct non-destructive testing of steel wire rope corrosion wear? Article 408 of the Coal Safety Regulations stipulates that when the steel wire of the steel wire rope has damage such as blackening, rust skin, pitting pits, etc., it shall not be used as a lifting person. When the steel wire rope is seriously rusted, or pitting pits form grooves, or the outer steel wire is loose, no matter how many broken wires or whether the rope diameter changes, it must be replaced immediately. This regulation is based on manual testing, and now with the development of the market, mining customers are more willing to use equipment to make the test data more scientific, to provide a more favorable guarantee for the good operation of the equipment.
