The tensile breaking load (smaller breaking force) of the steel wire rope is inconsistent with the sum of the breaking force of all steel wires, and the former is generally low. We call the ratio of the actual smaller breaking force to the sum of the breaking forces of each steel wire as the twisting efficiency (twisting coefficient). The ratio of the difference between the actual smaller breaking force of the wire rope and the sum of the breaking force of the steel wire and the sum of the breaking force of the steel wire is called the twisting loss.
The factors that generally affect the loss of wire rope twisting are:
① Twist angle of strands and steel wires; the greater the twist angle, the greater the twisting loss.

However, since the lay lengths of the individual layers are different, all the wires are inevitably crossed and thus subjected to locally large lateral pressure (secondary bending).
