Recently, the Baikete Professional Inspection Team deployed to a coal mine in Shaanxi Province to conduct nondestructive testing on the load‑bearing wire ropes used with the mine’s friction‑type main hoisting winch. On site, they employed an M5 wire rope inspector to perform field inspections, successfully completing a comprehensive safety assessment of the entire hoisting rope assembly.
Floor‑mounted hoisting wire ropes bear the load of personnel and materials in mines and operate continuously under heavy cyclic loads. In mining environments, dust and high humidity can lead to hidden hazards—such as internal wire fatigue and breakage, core corrosion, and radial wear—that are difficult to detect with the naked eye. Relying solely on visual inspection makes it challenging to identify deep‑seated damage, making these ropes a critical focus of mine safety management. The newly deployed Baikete M5 flaw detector employs a mature magnetic flux leakage (MFL) technique, enabling simultaneous acquisition of two types of data: LMA—loss of metal cross‑sectional area—and LF—localized wire‑break damage. It accurately locates damage points and quantifies loss ratios. The device is compatible with standard mine‑use wire rope diameters ranging from 24 to 64 mm, features a compact, transportable design for easy setup, and supports online dynamic flaw detection without requiring shutdown or disassembly, thereby minimizing disruption to routine coal‑mine production schedules.
The entire inspection process is conducted in strict accordance with the relevant standards of the Coal Mine Safety Regulations. Personnel are certified and qualified to perform the work, and waveform data are collected and inspection spectra are archived item by item as prescribed. Upon completion of the inspection, a professional report is issued, containing compliance‑based assessment findings, clearly indicating the locations of potential hazards and the corresponding levels of wear. The report also provides recommendations for maintenance and replacement, helping the mine operator accurately determine the actual service life of wire ropes and thereby reducing safety risks associated with rope breakage.
The company holds CMA and CNAS accreditation for testing and boasts many years of experience in on-site nondestructive testing at mining sites. It provides steel wire rope inspection and service‑based life‑assessment solutions to coal mines nationwide, leveraging advanced testing equipment and standardized field‑operation procedures to ensure the reliable and stable operation of mechanical and electrical equipment across Shaanxi Province.
